Laura’s Professional Background

LAURA MORGAN

studied Business Administration, Spanish, and Voice at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC.

Laura believes that life is not a dress rehearsal; we only have one chance on stage!

She is the reigning 2020 and 2021 Ms. North Carolina Senior America, having won this title while performing a medley from The Sound of Music.

Raised in beautiful Argentina, Laura began singing and playing piano as a young child. Years later, she caught the bug for musical theater while performing in a production of the classic musical “Evita,” based on the life of Eva Peron, former First Lady of Argentina. Her Spanish-speaking skills have also opened many cross-cultural doors over the years, including performing two roles in the bilingual opera “Cinderella in Spain.”

Laura is a regional soloist who has performed in numerous professional, volunteer, and charitable venues.

She has performed in several musicals including (but not limited to) the following: Peter Pan in “Peter Pan”; Maria in “Sound of Music”; Nellie in “South Pacific”; Irene Malloy in “Hello, Dolly!”; Rose in “Secret Garden”; Tzeitel in “Fiddler on the Roof”; Princess Winifred in “Once Upon a Mattress” and Grace Farrell in “Annie” as well as other productions including “West Side Story”, “Grand Night for Singing”, “Working”. Most recently, she performed as Nettie Fowler in “Carousel in Concert,” Melissa in “Love Letters,” and Vera Sanders in “Smoke on the Mountain.”

Laura is currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Southern Pines, North Carolina. Serving her local church community has always been of high importance to Laura. She enjoys singing in her church choir, singing solos, and playing piano during worship services.

She has had the great joy of living a few wonderful chapters of her life overseas, where she also performed as a soloist for Handel’s “Messiah” and Vivaldi’s “Gloria” in various churches in Germany.

Laura regularly performs in charitable fundraising events for causes that are close to her heart. Some of these charitable organizations include Moore County’s Friend to Friend organization (for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking), for the Patriot’s Foundation for Gold Star children (those who have lost a parent in combat), for the Moore Free Clinic (serving underprivileged families in Moore County), for the Boys’ and Girls’ Home of North Carolina, and for various military ceremonies at Fort Bragg. These events have brought in over a million dollars in contributions.

Personally, Laura is very happily married to the love of her life, Colonel (Retired) Jeff Morgan. Jeff (an orthopaedic surgeon) retired from the Army at Fort Bragg, NC in 2017 and joined the Veterans Health Administration.  He is currently the Chief of Staff for the Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Healthcare System. They have four adult children, one son-in-law, one soon-to-be daughter-in-law, and two King Charles Cavalier puppies. They make their home in Pinehurst, North Carolina, where they are both very active in their community.
